Wind was due to build according to the forecast and they weren't wrong. Couple of days after springs so plenty of tide at the start but enough breeze to allow us to hold near the line and then get a good start along with Alchemist. Chasing Raffles, Imperator and Alchemist down the Solent to the forts where the fleet split up and Alchemist chose the right option of tacking over to Bembridge and then picking up the tide for the tack back to the Tower. Changed down to the No. 3 as the breeze picked up and made the buoy which was used instead of the tower due to the construction work. Once round the mark we got the big spinnaker up for hopefully a good down wind leg to the finish. Through the forts it got tighter and we started to broach out and eventually flogged a sheet off whilst trying to avoid getting in the way of car transporter coming down the channel. No big drama getting the spinnaker down behind the headsail but left us a little under powered on the run up to Cowes with Alchemist and Blazer way ahead by this stage. Overall fourth which was OK but few lessons to learn as usual.
