Windy forecast and they weren't wrong, except for the direction of course. Two reefs and the number 3 up for
the start at Hill Head. Good get away on Port tack just past the committee boat with Skua IV nearly entering our
rear quarter as they dropped down on us. Heavy beat out of the Eastern Solent in a fairly lumpy sea but not too
many stoppers. Rounded the Nab and shook out the reefs with some difficulty as one of the reefing lines had
slipped off its pulley and jammed which in turn probably lead to the mainsail bolt rope coming out of the slot but
more of this later. Bit apprehensive about putting the kite up and it did prove tricky as it filled while half way up
as the No. 3 does not provide enough cover. Good kite run all the way to the finish with no big dramas although
we did go by the lee at times but generally the wind stayed North Easterly. Crossed the finished line with Xtract
just to far ahead to be in range but happy with a 4th overall and some good points on Skua IV who we were
ahead at the NAB. Once back in the Hamble we tried to drop the main and found that the bolt rope had come
out . Some head scratching and eventually disconnected the main from the boon to roil it up as best as possible
so we could dock the boat. Once safely tied up the only option was to drill out the entry feeder on the mast to
get the main down. Interesting day.
