Pretty crowded start line so probably not the best option to be on port tack but it seemed to work out with a
certain amount of carnage behind us. Light fluky conditions all day and dropped in and out of wind pockets all the
way to there Forts. First boat to the Forts but made a slight mistake going behind No Mans Land but kept up at
the front of the fleet round to Bembridge. Tide had turned before we got to the mark so we went in shore to
minimise the tide effect and tacked out for a close rounding. Wind had gone round at this point and we went for
the kite slightly later than there following boats which meant we ended up further in shore but as it turned out it
looked like a better option on the short leg to West Princessa. Another tricky rounding with the tide against so kept
the kite up till we were definitely clear. Now with tide helping us we got round Bembridge again and headed for
No Mans Fort. Again fluky condition with some white sailing and some spinnaker work. Ended up close in shore
and had to head out to get round Ryde sands. Were hoping for a more stable leg to the finish but that didn't
happen with rain squalls and wind shifts. Got to Osbourne Bay with the kite up but then had to beat to the finish
but had Whacky Racer in our sites finishing just behind them. Sixth in class was very pleasing and we were the first
of the 4 Laser 28's. Also just missed the podium in Double Handed by 8 seconds to Mostly Harmless.
