Start postponed due to light winds but got us away just after 10. Very fluky inconsistent conditions going down the Solent to the Forts.  Lots of playing with the kite to keep some speed but mostly dependant on which patch of breeze you were in.  Merged in with the JOG fleet who were heading for Bembridge via the Forts and had a little incident with one boat who wanted to tack through us but as the Forts were not a mark of our course we held our position.  Breeze bit more consistent approaching  West Princessa but had a minor mishap trying to jibe for a better kite drop when the back stay got tangled up and manged to obstruct Mint Julip in the process.  Once round the mark it was back to the Solent with the breeze building, single tack to Browndown then onto the finish at Hamble Yacht Services. By this time the wind was gusting over 20knts apparent which was too strong for us and Skua IV sailed through to finish ahead.  Overall a small boat race, due to the first half being very light, with results in reverse rating order.
