Prospects for the race were good with a North Easterly forecast with the probability of it going variable later in the night. Bit late on the start line but worked out quite well as we were in a good position going across Cowes Roads with other boats having to tack out to get round Snowden. Reasonable leg to the Forts with sheets eased and continued to white sail until Bembridge bore 180 and then got the kite up. Some great down wind sailing at first with some good surfs at up to 10 knots. Continued all night with the kite but contrary to the forecast the wind strength actually increased particularly when the tide turned and it should have decreased. With the wind angle getting slightly tighter it made for a fairly hairy ride with numerous broaches but managed to hold on till the wind eased off a bit and kept the kite all the way to the finish. Usual speculation on the result as we had lost site of Xara and Raffles during the night so pleased with a second place particularly when comparing our time to the other classes. Good trip back on Sunday apart from putting 10 litres of unleaded in the tank instead of diesel.
