Reasonable start but had to put a short tack in to pass Snowden than a good leg down the Solent to the
Forts and got the spinnaker up halfway to Bembridge which we held for most of the way to the finish. Some
really good work keeping inshore round the back of the Island out of the tide and seemed to be pulling away
from the boats behind with only higher raters up front. Wind lightened when the tide turned and half way
across Poole Bay it became very fickle. Tried the asymmetric for a bit but the wind went immediately aft as
soon as it was up so back to the normal kite for a slow run into the finish. The light wind patch seemed to
affect us worse than both the boats behind and in front so from a good handicap position at the Needles we
dropped to 5th overall.
